Question 1

What is the capacity of American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

American Airlines Center seats 19,200 for Dallas Mavericks basketball, which is the league-listed NBA capacity. For Stars hockey the room seats 18,532 with the ice surface and player benches in place. End-stage concerts expand the bowl to roughly 20,000 once the floor is sold as seats or general admission, depending on stage size and any obstructed-view sections that get pulled. Televised broadcast configurations, including WWE pay-per-views and Big 12 tournament games, bring the working capacity down slightly to accommodate camera platforms, runways and the broadcast compound.

Question 2

How do Mavs and Stars seating differ at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

Mavericks and Stars games share an identical lower-bowl footprint, with the Mavs using basketball-mode courtside in sections 101 through 119 and the Stars using hockey-mode rinkside in the same numbered sections. The Mavs bench sits on the south side of the floor, while the Stars bench faces the north side of the ice surface. Mezzanine 200 and Plaza 300-level seat numbering stays consistent, so a season ticket holder in section 314 sees the same view for either team. The Hangar Club behind the Mavs bench becomes a corner suite during Stars games.

Question 3

What is the best way to take DART rail to American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

Victory Station sits directly adjacent to the arena, with the Green Line and Orange Line both stopping at the platform on roughly fifteen-minute headways. From Plano, Richardson, Carrollton or Garland, take the Green Line one-seat south to Victory. From Las Colinas, Irving or DFW Airport, take the Orange Line east to Victory. From downtown Dallas, transfer at West End or Akard to either line. The station is built into the same plaza as the AAC, so you step off the train and onto Nowitzki Way without crossing a road. Trains run frequently before and after every Mavs and Stars game.

Question 4

Can I pre-pay for parking at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and on a Mavericks night or major concert it is highly recommended. The official American Airlines Center parking page partners with the AAC Parking Garage and SpotHero to pre-sell stalls in every on-site lot at fixed event pricing, with rates typically running $20 to $60 depending on proximity to the main entrance. Drive-up rates roughly double once the building is open and the closest lots fill in the first hour after gates clear. Showing up cold without a reservation on a sold-out Saturday night is the fastest way to spend thirty minutes circling Victory Park before tip-off.

Question 5

How does accessible seating work at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

Accessible seating is available in every tier of the bowl and is sold directly through TicketNetwork as standard inventory rather than a separate hidden queue. Wheelchair platforms and companion seats sit in the Platinum 100, Mezzanine 200 and Plaza 300 levels, with sightline-aware placement so guests using mobility devices are not stuck behind a standing crowd at a Mavs game or concert. The Olive Street side of the building is the fully accessible main entrance, with curb-cut drop-off space and a step-free path into the bowl. Sensory bags and a quiet sensory room are available on request from guest services.

Question 6

What is the bag policy at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

American Airlines Center uses a small clear bag policy similar to most NBA and NHL venues. Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches are allowed, as are clutch-sized non-clear bags up to roughly 4.5 by 6.5 inches and one-gallon clear freezer bags. Backpacks, oversized purses, laptop bags and camera cases with detachable lenses are not permitted inside the bowl. There is no bag check on-site, so leave anything larger in your vehicle, hotel or in an off-site Bounce or Vertoe locker around the West End before walking over to Victory Park.

Question 7

Can I bring kids to American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

American Airlines Center is fully family-friendly. Children under two can sit on a caregiver’s lap free of charge for most Mavericks and Stars games and many family shows, but anyone over the age of two needs their own ticket for entry. Some adult-rated comedy shows, UFC cards and late-night concerts post a minimum age in the listing, so check the event page before you book. Sensory bags, a quiet room and stroller check at the main entrance make it one of the easier big Texas venues to visit with younger kids on a Disney on Ice night.

Question 8

Is there a dress code at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

There is no formal dress code for general seating at American Airlines Center. Most Mavericks fans show up in a jersey, hoodie or T-shirt, Stars fans wear Victory Green sweaters, and concert crowds dress for the act on stage. The Hangar Club, AAC Premium Club and Platinum Level suites apply a smart-casual standard, which means no ripped jeans, tank tops on men or visibly stained clothing, but stops well short of business attire. Costumes are welcome on theme nights such as Halloween games and family shows, although full-face masks, prop weapons and large signs are not allowed past security.

Question 9

How do last-minute tickets work at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

Last-minute tickets to Mavericks, Stars and concert events at American Airlines Center are available through TicketNetwork, the team app and verified resale on the AAC marketplace. Prices typically soften in the two hours before tip-off on weeknight Mavs and Stars games, particularly in the upper Plaza 300 sections, and a same-day buy on a Tuesday game can land in the $15 to $30 range. Concert pricing follows the opposite curve and rarely drops on the day of show for sold-out tours. Always verify any resale through an official channel rather than a sidewalk vendor.

Question 10

Where is the Dirk Nowitzki statue at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

The Dirk Nowitzki bronze statue stands at the corner of Nowitzki Way and Olive Street, on the south side of American Airlines Center facing Victory Park. The statue was unveiled on a Mavericks home night honoring the franchise’s 2011 NBA Championship and the seven-time All-NBA forward’s twenty-one-year career with the team. It depicts Nowitzki in his trademark one-legged fadeaway, the shot that won the 2011 Finals against the Miami Heat. The plaza around the statue doubles as the Mavs pre-game gathering point on big nights, and fans regularly leave jerseys, flowers and notes at the base.

Question 11

What are the best Victory Park restaurants near American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

Victory Park has filled in around American Airlines Center with a dense pre-game and post-game restaurant grid. Cantina Laredo on Olive Street is the flagship Tex-Mex pick and books up two hours before every Mavs game. Off the Record inside the W Dallas is the go-to cocktail bar for premium-ticket holders, and Medina Oven & Bar handles upscale Mediterranean a block north. Cook Hall, Victory Tavern and the Renaissance Hotel rooftop cover sports-bar and skyline-view options. North across Houston Street, the Design District restaurants are five minutes by rideshare and quieter on a sold-out night.

Question 12

How does weather affect events at American Airlines Center?

Accepted Answer

American Airlines Center is fully enclosed and climate-controlled, so Mavericks, Stars and concert events run on schedule through Texas summer heat, the occasional winter ice storm and spring severe-weather season. The building has a documented sheltering protocol for tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, and guests are moved off the concourse and into interior corridors when a warning is active. Pre-game tailgating in the Victory Park plaza can pause during lightning, but the indoor bowl itself stays open. Check the Mavs or Stars app on a stormy day for any schedule adjustments.
