Question 1

What is the capacity of MetLife Stadium?

Accepted Answer

MetLife Stadium has an NFL seating capacity of 82,500 — the largest in the league for standard football configurations — and stretches up to roughly 90,000 for concerts with a general-admission floor and full stage rigging. World Cup 26 matches will use a UEFA-style soccer configuration with capacity adjusted around the pitch dimensions and TV camera positions. Super Bowl XLVIII set the building's outdoor cold-weather championship attendance at 82,529 in February 2014.

Question 2

How do I get to MetLife Stadium on NJ Transit?

Accepted Answer

NJ Transit runs the Meadowlands Rail Line directly to the stadium on event days only. From Penn Station New York, take any train one stop west to Secaucus Junction, then transfer to the Meadowlands shuttle train (same platform, well signed). Total time is 25 to 35 minutes door-to-door. Service starts about three hours before kickoff or doors and runs for roughly an hour after the event ends. Round-trip fare runs about $7 to $10 depending on origin. Capacity is real but limited on sold-out nights — board early.

Question 3

How do I pre-pay for MetLife parking?

Accepted Answer

Pre-paid parking is the only reliable way to lock in a specific on-site lot. Buy through the official MetLife Stadium parking portal or the team-specific portals for Giants and Jets games — both push you to the same booking partner. Pricing runs roughly $50 to $80 per car for NFL general lots and is set per-event for concerts and World Cup matches. Pre-pay is cheaper than gate cash, and cash transactions have been phased out across most lots. Your pre-paid pass is delivered as a mobile barcode scanned at the lot entrance.

Question 4

Is MetLife Stadium wheelchair accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every gate (A through F) has step-free entry, every level (100, 200, 300, 500) is served by accessible elevators, and dedicated wheelchair seating with companion seats is available on every level. Accessible parking is in every lot for vehicles with proper plates. Accessible washrooms and family / companion restrooms are on every concourse. Service animals are welcome. Assistive listening devices, audio description, and sensory bags can be borrowed free at Guest Services with photo ID.

Question 5

What is the MetLife Stadium bag policy?

Accepted Answer

MetLife enforces the NFL clear-bag policy across all events, not just football. Permitted bags are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC totes no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, one-gallon clear ziplock freezer bags, or small clutches no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. Backpacks, opaque bags, fanny packs, camera cases, and binocular cases are all prohibited regardless of size. Medical and diaper bags are exempt after inspection. There is no bag check at the stadium — non-compliant bags must be returned to your vehicle.

Question 6

Is MetLife Stadium family-friendly?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The stadium runs designated family sections for both Giants and Jets games (alcohol-restricted), the Quest Diagnostics Training Center and kids' areas open on select event days, and concession stands carry kid-portion meals and reduced-price kid combos. The 200 and 300 levels are typically the quietest spots for families with young kids. Sensory bags with noise-cancelling headphones can be borrowed free at Guest Services. Strollers must be folded and stored at your seat or checked at Guest Services — no rolling strollers in the seating bowl.

Question 7

Is there a dress code at MetLife Stadium?

Accepted Answer

General seating has no formal dress code — fans wear everything from team jerseys to suits straight from the office, plus full face paint and costume gear on rivalry weekends. Premium clubs (Coaches Club, Hall of Fame Lounge, Hudson Clubs, MetLife Club) ask for smart casual: no torn clothing, no offensive graphics, no athletic-only attire after 5 p.m. on weekdays. Apparel with hate symbols, obscene language, or graphics targeting opposing fans is not permitted anywhere. Costume masks that fully cover the face are not allowed past the gates.

Question 8

How do I get tickets to the FIFA World Cup 26 Final?

Accepted Answer

Tickets to the World Cup 26 Final are sold exclusively through FIFA's official ticketing platform — fifa.com/tickets — through a multi-stage application and lottery process that opens in phases ahead of the tournament. There is no sanctioned secondary resale through standard marketplaces, though resale operates regardless. Hospitality packages with guaranteed seats and stadium-day amenities are sold through FIFA's official hospitality partner. Watch fifa.com for the application windows; demand for the Final will be the highest in tournament history.

Question 9

What is the difference between Giants and Jets seating at MetLife?

Accepted Answer

The bowl is physically identical but the home sideline flips between games. For Giants games, the Giants bench is on the west sideline (sections 137–142 lower bowl), and the Giants-skinned LED ring lights up in blue. For Jets games, the Jets bench moves to the east sideline (sections 109–114 lower bowl) and the ring flips to Jets green. Premium clubs and suite assignments rotate accordingly between the two ownership groups. If you want the home team bench in your sightline, check which side hosts the team you're watching before picking your section.

Question 10

Can I buy last-minute tickets at the MetLife box office?

Accepted Answer

The MetLife box office at the south side of the stadium opens roughly three hours before kickoff or doors for walk-up sales, but most events are mobile-ticket only and resale through TicketNetwork, StubHub, SeatGeek, and Vivid Seats is the practical way to get last-minute seats. Sold-out NFL games and stadium concerts typically have hundreds of resale listings on event day, with prices dropping noticeably in the final two hours before doors. Bring photo ID matching the purchaser's name for any will-call pickup.

Question 11

What happens at MetLife in bad weather?

Accepted Answer

MetLife Stadium is open-air with no roof — football, concerts, and World Cup matches all happen rain, snow, or shine. The Giants and Jets play through cold-weather conditions including snow games (Super Bowl XLVIII was 49 degrees but multiple regular-season games have run below freezing). Concerts run through light rain; only severe lightning within range pauses play. Heated bench coverings, hand-warmer concessions, and ponchos are sold inside. Dress in layers for any November-through-January NFL game and bring a clear plastic poncho — umbrellas are prohibited inside the seating bowl.

Question 12

What is the best traffic strategy for getting in and out?

Accepted Answer

For driving, arrive at least 90 minutes before kickoff for NFL games and three hours before for the World Cup 26 Final — Route 3, NJ Turnpike interchange 16W, and Route 120 all back up severely in the final hour. Pre-paid parking gets you into your assigned lot faster than the general queue. For transit, NJ Transit Meadowlands Rail from Secaucus Junction is the fastest in-and-out option and bypasses the road traffic entirely. Leaving after the game, expect 30 to 45 minutes to clear the parking lot for sold-out events; staying for the post-game concourse and waiting out the rush is often faster than queuing in your car.
