About the Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have won six Super Bowls — more than any AFC team — and are defined by the Terrible Towel tradition and a steel-city identity stretching back to 1933. They play at Acrisure Stadium on the North Shore.

Founded in 1933 by Art Rooney, the Pittsburgh Steelers became a dynasty under coach Chuck Noll in the 1970s, winning four Super Bowls in six years with the Steel Curtain defense. Under Bill Cowher and later Mike Tomlin, the franchise added two more Lombardi Trophies in 2005 and 2008, bringing the total to six. Acrisure Stadium, opened in 2001 on Pittsburgh's North Shore at the confluence of the Allegheny and Ohio rivers, offers panoramic downtown views.
