About the Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders, one of the NFL's founding franchises since 1932, have won three Super Bowls. After years as the Redskins and briefly the Washington Football Team, they rebranded as the Commanders in 2022 and play at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

Founded in Boston in 1932 and relocated to Washington in 1937, the franchise became one of the NFL's most storied organizations. Under coach Joe Gibbs the club won three Super Bowls, with Doug Williams becoming the first Black starting QB to win a Super Bowl in Super Bowl XXII.
