Parking tips for New York Rangers
Parking for New York Rangers games is tricky because Madison Square Garden sits atop Penn Station in midtown Manhattan, where lots are scarce and pricey. The arena is one of the most transit-connected venues in sports: NJ Transit, LIRR, Amtrak, and several subway lines feed directly into Penn Station below. For most fans, taking the train or subway beats driving into midtown entirely.
1. Take the subway, LIRR, or NJ Transit straight into Penn Station beneath MSG; for almost everyone it beats driving into midtown.
2. If you must drive, pre-book a midtown garage online before game day, since drive-up rates near MSG are among the highest in the city.
3. Compare garages a few blocks west toward the Hudson or south in Chelsea; the short walk often saves a meaningful amount.
4. Avoid driving on weeknight games that overlap with midtown rush hour and other Penn Station events.
5. Use a designated rideshare pickup point a block or two from the arena to skip the post-game crush at 7th and 8th Avenues.
