American Airlines Center, opened in 2001 and shared with the NBA's Mavericks, is a 19,000-seat arena in the Victory Park neighbourhood of downtown Dallas. The Stars have cultivated a passionate Texas hockey fan base, making Dallas one of the NHL's most surprising success stories in the Sun Belt. Rivalries with the St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators, and Colorado Avalanche define the Central Division race each season.
