About the New York City FC

New York City FC launched in 2015 with global backing from Manchester City's City Football Group, won the MLS Cup in 2021 and play at Yankee Stadium. They are one of MLS's most high-profile expansion stories.

New York City FC entered MLS in 2015 as part of the City Football Group empire and immediately attracted stars like David Villa, Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo. The club won the MLS Cup in 2021, defeating Portland Timbers on penalties. NYCFC plays at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx while planning a permanent purpose-built stadium in Queens. The Bronx End supporter section and Five Boroughs identity have given the club a distinct New York personality separate from the Red Bulls.
