About the Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake won the MLS Cup in 2009 in one of the great underdog stories in American soccer. They play at America First Field in Sandy, Utah — one of the best soccer-specific atmospheres in the Western Conference.

Real Salt Lake joined MLS in 2005 and won the MLS Cup in 2009 under coach Jason Kreis, with goalkeeper Nick Rimando and midfielder Kyle Beckerman anchoring a squad that defied odds throughout the playoffs. America First Field (formerly Rio Tinto Stadium) opened in 2008 in Sandy, Utah — a 20,213-seat soccer-specific venue that is regularly ranked among the best in MLS for sightlines and atmosphere.
